Is Vermentino similar to Chardonnay?

The Vermentino grape has a thin, light-colored skin producing wines that are usually aromatic, light-bodied and refreshing while Chardonnay is typically a dry, medium to full-bodied wine. Vermentino is similar to a traditional Chardonnay in that they may share some citrus notes, however Vermentino typically has more minerality and even salinity. Most Vermentino wines will have a distinctive bitter finish that tastes like almonds. Chardonnay differs from Vermentino in that Chardonnay flavors range from green apple and lemon to papaya and pineapple.
